nbn™ Service Class Description

Here’s what you need to know about nbn™ service classes.

Service ClassDescription
0A location that will be serviceable by fibre to the premises (FTTP). You cannot activate the service as nbn™ are still running fibre between the pits. You will have to wait until the area is ready for service.
1A location that is serviceable by fibre, but neither external device nor internal NTD (nbn™ box) are installed. In other words, fibre has yet to be installed from the street or pit to the premises. Service can be ordered and an installation appointment can be made.
2The location is serviceable by fibre and the external device has been installed, but there is no internal (nbn™ box) installed yet. The nbn™Co technician will soon come to complete the install and move you to Service Class 3.
3The location is now serviceable by fibre. Both the external and internal devices have been installed. Service can be ordered and activation is within 5 business days.
4A location that is planned to be serviceable by fixed wireless, but the tower is not live yet. You cannot activate the service or get an installation scheduled yet. You will have to wait until the area is ready for service.
5The location is serviceable by nbn™ fixed wireless, but there is no infrastructure in place. You need to contact us to book an appointment for the installation of the antenna and the NTD (nbn™ connection device).
6The location is serviceable by nbn™ fixed wireless. Both the antenna and the NTD are in place. Service can be ordered and activation is within 5 business days.
7 – 9Satellite services with nbn™. This type of service is not supported.
10A location that will be serviceable by Copper for FTTN/FTTB, but is not live yet as nbn™ are still in planning stages. You cannot activate the service or get an installation scheduled yet.
11The location is serviceable by Copper for FTTN/FTTB and service can be ordered. However, additional infrastructure work such as lead in and jumpering are still required. The nbn™Co technician will only run a physical cable and attach it to the home. You should ensure that internal cabling is in place as well as the conduit. For FTTB, you will need to ensure that the nbn™Co technician has access to the communications room to check if there is an internal copper line running from the communications room to the apartment.
12The location is serviceable by Copper for FTTN/FTTB, but the connection is not yet nbn™ ready. An activation date can be booked, which is usually just a jumpering-only appointment. The nbn™Co technician will perform required work at the node only.
13The location is serviceable by Copper for FTTN/FTTB and the connection is nbn™ ready. Service can be ordered and activation is within 5 business days.
20A location that will be serviceable by the HFC network.
21The location is serviceable by HFC, but has no lead-in or NTD in place.
22The location is serviceable by HFC with a lead-in, but no wall-plate/socket or NTD installed.
23The location is serviceable by HFC with a lead-in and wall-plate in place, but no NTD installed.
24The location is serviceable by HFC and the connection is nbn™ ready. Service can now be ordered and activation is within 5 business days.
30A location that will be serviceable by FTTC.
31The location is serviceable by FTTC, but does not have a lead-in yet.
32The location is serviceable by FTTC with a lead-in, but is not yet connected.
33The location is serviceable by FTTC and is connected, but an NCD (nbn™ device) is still required.
34The location is serviceable by FTTC and the connection is nbn™ ready. Service can be ordered and activation is within 5 business days.
